While Thanksgiving, Hannukah and Christmas usually take the spotlight this time of year, we're using 2024 to bring back another of the biggest celebrations of the holiday season: Until You Fall's Aetherversary.

We're looking back on four years of this iconic VR roguelite, still the gold standard of sword fighting in virtual reality, with a big focus on the community. Aetherversary Celebration

If this is your first Aetherversary, welcome. Gather round the Runeforge. Released in the fall of 2020, Until You Fall introduces Rune Knights to the people of Rokar to fight against The Calamity and save their world from total annihilation. The combat is fast-paced, the lore of the world engaging, and there's hundreds of combinations of weapons to wield and augments to employ, and even more ways to challenge yourself by ramping up the difficulty.

The Aetherversary Festival was created by Schell Games to commemorate the immense love our community showed for Until You Fall, resulting in the Discord celebration below that featured not only the most skilled Rune Knights in combat but also their skills in trivia, fan fiction, and more.

Fan Music

Music is such an important part of Until You Fall, and the incredible soundtrack (a genre which we lovingly dubbed Swordwave) keeps Rune Knights swinging even in their darkest moments.

But fans have added to the richness of the sounds of Rokar with their own interpretations of the music of this realm, like this remix from user orchidrose called Forged in Aether. We also wanted to acknowledge Rokari Chicken for their series of music videos showcasing original music matched with gameplay footage we think works especially well in Beautiful Day in Rokar:

Fan Fiction

We love lore and fan fiction here at Schell Games, so here we celebrate the bardic Rune Knights who expand the world of Until You Fall through the written word. Back in 2021, Austin Lee Matthews read through the winning entry of Schell Games' fan fiction contest.

Rune Knights of Legend

In the spirit of the Aetherversary, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate those we've dubbed Rune Knights of Legend who have stood the test of time in Rokar and continue to contribute to the community: welcoming new players, knowing the ins and outs of the game, and having a massive amount of gameplay videos to show off their expertise.
